When Hollywood USA has become the arbiter of your mores, then what men like this say and do will eventually become the norm.   This is Nick Cassavetes.  He is a mainstream California movie producer who has a really big megaphone.  What this man says and does makes news.  And Mr. Cassavetes has spoken.

Nick Cassavetes advocates a complete dissolution of Western social sexual norms.

Cassavetes:  "I have no experience with incest. ... We had heard a few stories where brothers and sisters were completely, absolutely in love with one another. You know what? This whole movie is about judgment, and lack of it, and doing what you want. Who gives a ****** if people judge you? I'm not saying this is an absolute but in a way, if you're not having kids - who gives a ****? Love who you want. Isn't that what we say? Gay marriage - love who you want? If it's your brother or sister it's super-weird, but if you look at it, you're not hurting anybody except every single person who freaks out because you're in love with one another.

If it can be done in barnyard, then Hollywood is interested in bringing it to a computer, television or movie theater near you.  Mr. Cassavetes' viewpoints seem to point to an "I'm OK, you're OK" sort of lowest common standard.  In his logic, now that the gay rights battle is practically won, it's time to move on to the next battle front.  Let's give a list of what some of those battle fronts might be:  1) if gay marriage is enshrined as acceptable, then any person or group of people should be able to marry any other person or group they wish.  Now, we have polyamory;  2) if gay marriage is acceptable, and since the term "marriage" now means everything, we now have the acceptability of marital incest (brother-sister, father-daughter, father-son, mother-daughter, mother-son) -- or perhaps the entire family weds itself and everybody gets to sleep in just one bed;  3) Age limits come down next.  Yes, the next logical step is the dissolution of age restrictions for love and sex.  So, those sex-ed classes in your child's elementary school might just become a different sort of thing in Mr. Cassavetes' future.  Adults pursuing children?  There won't be enough prisons to house the offenders; therefore, the laws will have to be done away with;  4) Will there be any piece of livestock or will there be any family pet which is safe in Mr. Cassavete's future?  I can foresee a big fight with the animal rights groups coming.  The lawyers will surely be stuffing their wallets.

Where does this lead?   All of the above are vile lifestyles that were never intended in nature or by nature's God.  If you're a progressive, thank yourself for the great speed and progress you've made in tearing down 4000 years of Western societal culture.  Oh please, forgive me for making a moral judgement on you!

Since you have no other moral anchor, this is what your own hands wrought.   "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law".

  2. Sexual freedoms have not resulted in increased happiness-- Cassavetes should give pause to more moderate progressives who advocate tolerance above all. Cassavetes comments: “Love who you want, isn’t that what we say? Gay marriage – love who you want.” Those who are prepared to redefine marriage in the name of tolerance will have to admit further expansion of that definition is happening: "The call for broadening the number of people in a marriage has intensified since a judge in Sao Paolo, Brazil, registered a three-person “stable union” last month"(1). In an article titled "The White House and Sexualityism," Helen Alvare offers a critique of the assumption that increased sexuality increases happiness. The idea that we had to get rid of all the repressive religious views led to promotion of contraceptives and abortion, yet women of the successive generations since Roe v. Wade have not experienced sexualityism as entirely positive. It turns out that women like Kate Spicer are owning a certain degree of regret for the loss of maternity and child rearing (2) Helen Alvare suggests religion is vital in response to the spiritual needs in humans. Alvare writes: "Religious beliefs, and the associated drive to live them with integrity and to practice them in action, are therefore and unsurprisingly an important constitutive factor in human happiness" (3). Shallow notions of sexual liberation, expanding freedoms, and redefining marriage turn out to be licentiousness rather than liberty.
